Alex Smith. Robert Quinn. Chris Ivory. Vontae Davis. Frank Gore. And now, Michael Bennett. What do they all have in common? Big names who the Cleveland Browns reportedly showed interest in, either via a trade or as a free agent, but without a deal coming to fruition.
According to Dianna Russini of ESPN, the Browns were among the many teams who were “in the running” for acquiring Bennett from the Seahawks.
There were a bunch of teams in the running for Michael Bennett. New England, Cleveland, Tampa, and Falcons to just name a few.

And here are the reported terms that the trade involves, sending Bennett to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Here it goes: Seahawks are trading DE Michael Bennett and a seventh-round pick to Eagles for a fifth-round pick and WR Marcus Johnson, sources tell ESPN.

Bennett is 32 years old, but his cap hit over the next three years is pretty small -- between $6.65 and $8.5 million per year through 2020. It just seems surprising to see him traded for peanuts. Seattle does also get WR Marcus Johnson, who is 23 years old, but he has just 5 catches for 45 yards as a former undrafted free agent. Remember, the Browns are the team that got a 4th round pick for P Andy Lee a couple of years ago, which they will actually reap the benefit of this year.
