It wasn’t long ago that Arizona looked like perennial contender but after couple years of mediocrity followed up with the retirements of Bruce Arians and Carson Palmer things don’t seem as promising. A succession plan to Palmer has been long over due, but now with the way things have played out Josh Allen is the future for the Cards. Allen is raw and shouldn’t play at all during his rookie year but that will be easier said then done with Sam Bradford ahead of him. It may not be an ideal situation for Allen but he will have a young talented back in David Johnson to rely on when he eventually gets his shot.

Pokorny: “Browns fans are hoping Allen doesn’t end up going No. 1 overall to them. The selection of five quarterbacks in the first round certainly panned out differently in this mock draft than almost everyone else is predicting, but Arizona needs a long-term answer at quarterback with the retirement of Carson Palmer. Sam Bradford only has a two-year deal in place, and that might be just the length of time they envision before Allen is ready to take the reigns.”
