On Monday, Peter King of The MMQB got people believing that the Cleveland Browns were “off” of Josh Allen and “on” to Sam Darnold. But later on Monday and now into Tuesday morning, it’s the Baker Mayfield hype that is building when it comes to the Browns at No. 1 overall, starting with this Tuesday morning tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
Just to add a bit more murkiness to top of draft: one NFL executive said this morning that Baker Mayfield is “definitely” in Cleveland’s conversation to become the No. 1 overall pick.

Back on Monday, after King’s stuff about Darnold came out, Benjamin Allbright said that he’s been hearing a lot of buzz building about Baker being taken with the first overall pick.
Lot of Baker at #1 buzz building over the last week.

Allbright later added that he still thinks the pick will be Darnold, but that the Baker possibility came from “several respected persons over the past week.” And then adding even more confusion to the mix, on Monday, Dan Patrick said the following:
Dan Patrick on @dpshow citing a source who told him #Browns are choosing between Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen for No. 1 pick echoing what @DustinFox37 has said. Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold off the board.

I just want to know who the damn quarterback will be already! Thursday night can’t get here soon enough.
