The NFL announced on Monday that all 32 teams will invite special guests from various locations around the country to reveal their Day 3 picks in the 2018 NFL Draft.

According to the official release, Rounds 4 through 6 of the Draft that “clubs will make their picks from around the world, including military bases, state landmarks, and major attractions.” Additionally, “For the second straight year, Round 6 will be youth football-themed, and youth football players from Pop Warner, NFL FLAG, and local teams will represent various NFL clubs in their individual markets during pick selections.”

Representing the Cleveland Browns will be Pro Football Hall of Fame President David Baker as well as local youth football players. These picks will be announced from the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

The Browns’ special guests are relatively tame compared to what some other teams have planned for Day 3.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have their picks delivered via parrot (as in, yes, a tropical bird) to the Pirate Ship installation at the team’s home base of Raymond James Stadium. And the San Francisco 49ers’ picks will be announced by R2-D2 and Chewbacca and various Stormtroopers of Star Wars fame along with Ron Howard and the SFPAL 49ers Prep Flag Football Team.

While the NFL Draft is a major event for the league, the third day of the event can often drag on, featuring players not well-known to average fans. Bringing this additional layer of local appeal and entertainment is a way to keep eyes on the draft until the very end.
