I am big on the take the Best Player Available philosophy. The top players on my board are (in no particular order) James Washington, Sam Hubbard, Jaire Alexander, and Isaiah Oliver. Each of these players fit a need (CBs less so with Ward at #4) and would help out this team.

While it is tempting to go after Washington because he fits more of a need,, I will stick to my board and finish off this Community Mock by selecting, Sam Hubbard DE, The Ohio State University. He is the trifecta at this spot – my top rated player left, plays a position of need, and comes from OSU. Hubbard adds to the DE rotation to help keep Ogbah and Garrett fresh. In obvious passing situation, you can move Garrett or Ogbah inside and put Hubbard on the outside to present a terrifying pass rushing look to the opposing QB.

Pokorny: “With four different people picking for the Browns, Cleveland ended up with QB Lamar Jackson, CB Denzel Ward, DT Maurice Hurst, and DE Sam Hubbard. Overall, if you ignore the fact that Cleveland had the first overall pick of the draft, that is still a great haul for the Browns to come away with. It shows, “how can you go wrong with having four picks so high in the draft?”

Obviously, the selection of Jackson at No. 1 overall turned off a lot of readers early on because they don’t see it as a realistic scenario at all. And to this point, there have been zero indications that the Browns or any other team will take Jackson near the top of the draft. But there are a lot of people who love his potential, and if he’s going to sit anyway for a year or two, I think it’s perfectly fine to hear people out in a mock draft. How many times do mock drafters actually get picks correct? Very few in the first round — because crazy stuff always happens. So for some people to completely dismiss this mock draft? Well, you can say that you don’t think it’ll pan out this way, but one could also argue that stepping beyond the expectation will be more comparable to reality than anything else you’ll see.”
