Kellen Winslow, Jr. was supposed to be the Browns’ starting tight end for 10-years when he was taken in the first-round of the 2004 NFL draft. Now, he sits in a California jail without bond.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Winslow will go to trial on eight charges with a hearing set for August 17 regarding those charges. The charges are: two counts of kidnapping with intent to commit rape, one count of forcible sodomy, and two counts of rape, all felonies, plus two counts of trespassing and one count of indecent exposure, all misdemeanors. He has pled not guilty to all charges with a bail set at $2 million. Two counts of burglary were recently dropped.

The prosecutors have stated that Winslow performed these crimes between March and June of this year in his hometown of Encinitas, California. His DNA has been reported linked to several of the rapes.

Also, Winslow was charged with raping a 17-year old girl in 2003 on Thursday that is unrelated to any of the previous charges and will be heard in August as well. According to that report, this alleged incident occurred in San Diego with a victim who was unconscious and may involve an assault in addition to the rape charge.

Winslow, Jr. played for the Browns from 2004-2008.
