According to multiple reports, the Cleveland Browns will hire Al Holcomb as their new linebackers coach and run game coordinator. The announcement is expected to be made on Thursday:
Former #Cardinals DC Al Holcomb is joining the #Browns as run game coordinator/linebackers coach, source said. Steve Wilks, who was with Holcomb in Carolina and Arizona, is now in Cleveland as DC. Good landing spot.

The choice is a fitting one for new Browns defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. Holcomb was Wilks’ linebackers coach with the Carolina Panthers. Then, Holcomb was brought over to Arizona last year to be Wilks’ defensive coordinator. Adding the “run game coordinator” to his title makes it seem like less of a step down for him.
The Cardinals, fittingly, were awful at defending the run last year, but excelled against the pass and also the number of sacks per pass attempt.
