We are hearing a lot of fun nuggets this week at the NFL League Meetings, especially with guys like Cleveland Browns GM John Dorsey making the rounds. On Monday, he told reporters that the team will hold three joint practices with the Indianapolis Colts during training camp this year, leading up to their preseason game against them on the road.
The preseason schedule hasn’t officially been announced yet, but Dorsey tipped the fact that the Browns and Colts will square off at Lucas Oil Stadium for the second preseason game. The practices will take place in August, and will all be on the road. The hope is that Indianapolis can return the favor and practice in Cleveland in 2020.
”It takes the dog days, it takes all the repetition out,” said Dorsey. “You have an opposing team that you’re playing. You can kind of measure them up and guys can work against different schemes and players and it’s another set of competitive steps you want to take moving forward.”
The Colts’ training camp is held at Grand Park Sports Campus. It is unclear at this point in time whether the practices with the Browns would be open to the public. If they were, though, it might make for a great vacation play for Cleveland fans to make the trek over to Indiana.
