Cleveland Browns’ announce offseason programs & media tour begin Monday

The Cleveland Browns are beginning their offseason programs on April 1st, leading up to the 2019 NFL season. Because the Browns have a new head coach, they are allowed to begin their offseason programs two weeks earlier than teams without a new head coach. Monday begins “Phase One” of the team’s offseason program. According to the CBA, that consists of the following:

Phase One shall consist of the first two weeks of the Club’s offseason workout program. Phase One activities shall be limited to strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation only. During Phase One, only full-time or part-time strength and conditioning coaches, who have no other coaching responsibilities with the Club, shall be allowed on the field; no other coaches shall be allowed on the field or to otherwise participate in or observe activities. No footballs shall be permitted to be used (only “dead ball” activities), except that quarterbacks may elect to throw to receivers provided they are not covered by any other player. Players cannot wear helmets during Phase One.

Only the Browns’ strength and conditioning coaches would be allowed on the field. More coaches can start getting involved when minicamps and organized team activities commence, per the schedule below:

Offseason Workouts (Phase 1): Begins April 1
Offseason Workouts (Phase 2): TBA
Rookie Minicamp: May 3-5
OTA Offseason Workouts (Phase 3): May 15, May 22, May 29*
Mandatory Minicamp: June 4-6

*There are other dates; these were the only three announced since they are open to the media.

On Monday, Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens will be available to the media starting at 1:30 PM, and then players will be available after that. The assumption is that new Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. will make his debut in Berea, where a media circus will no doubt gather around the star-studded receiver. Beckham is already representing Browns attire on social media:

On April 18, Browns GM John Dorsey will hold his pre-draft press conference at noon.

The annual Cleveland Browns Foundation Golf Tournament at Westwood Country Club will take place on May 20.
