Rumors swirled on Thursday that the Cleveland Browns were trying to leverage OG Kevin Zeitler in a trade with the New York Giants for WR Odell Beckham Jr. According to reports, Zeitler will in fact be headed to the Giants, but it’s for an unexpected player: star pass-rushing DE Olivier Vernon.
The #Browns are sending G Kevin Zeitler to NYG in exchange for #Giants pass-rusher Olivier Vernon, sources tell me and @MikeGarafolo

In addition, the Browns will receive No. 133 overall from the Giants (a late fourth-round pick) in exchange for No. 155 overall (a mid fifth-round pick).
This is a gamble that Browns GM John Dorsey hopes pays off. Zeitler has played very well. Although he hasn’t made the Pro Bowl, he was one of the Top 10 guards in the NFL in my opinion. However, the team drafted Austin Corbett with the 33rd overall pick last year, so they already have their new starting right guard on the team. If it works out to where he is even stable, then the Browns made a good move addressing a need. If Corbett is a mess, then...we’ll see.
Over the past three years, Vernon has totaled 22 sacks in 39 games. He has two more years left on his contract. He is coming off of a career year in terms of pass-rushing, which makes him a scary option opposite DE Myles Garrett, and replaces the rather disappointing production that DE Emmanuel Ogbah has had through two years:
