This is the list of quarterbacks drafted or traded for by John Elway since he became GM not named Peyton Manning. This list and the complete ineptitude to find a quarterback is the driving force behind this pick. They have ranked 4th from last in QBR the last 3 years and are in desperate need for help at that position. Elway used to be a God in Denver but the rumbling for his firing is getting louder and louder. If he wants to save his job he has to find the right quarterback immediately. I can already hear the boos coming from Nashville with Haskins on the board but there has been a ton of talk about Lock to Denver already. He grew as a passer as his senior year went on, and has a bit of a gunslinger mentality which is attractive to Elway. Lock also shows better mobility than Haskins and with the Broncos offensive line being questionable, mobility will be needed. Lock will sit behind Flacco until the team can’t rationalize his terrible play anymore, and will be the key piece in Elway keeping his job or not.

Pokorny: “I like the fact that we have a bolder pick here. Joe Flacco is a stopgap option for the Broncos at quarterback, and I don’t know if John Elway will be able to get it right with the quarterback position. But I’m curious to see what the fan reaction would be with this pick.”
