2019 NFL Mock Draft: Los Angeles Chargers Select DE Clelin Ferrell at No. 28

Another pass-rusher off the board.

NFL: Combine Thomas J. Russo-USA TODAY Sports

With the 28th pick in the 2019 DBN Community NFL Mock Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers select...

Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson

The selection and write-up were made by Crawford_T:

The Chargers do not have many glaring needs, as they were a 12-4 team last season and made it to the Divisional round of the playoffs. They could use a new DT as the aging Brandon Mebane is their best player at that position right now, OT is another position of need but with the top O-linemen gone I decided to pass on a selection at that position too. Instead the Chargers decide to pick best player available and further bolster a position of strength by selecting DE Clelin Ferrell to play with Bosa and Ingram.

Ferrell has great size and power and plays with excellent effort, even if he isn’t the most exceptional athlete; he is also a well rounded player who I think should play well against the run too. Due to the talent of Ingram and Bosa, Ferrell will not be a starter but I think he could still have an impact; the Chargers currently do not have much depth behind those two and Ferrell will allow them to rotate more, potentially making them even more effective. With the Chiefs and Pat Mahomes at the top of the AFC West and lighting up the NFL, I don’t think the Chargers could have too many pass rushers and I believe Ferrell is too good a value at pick 28 to pass up.

Pokorny: “You can never have too many edge rushers, and the value of taking Ferrell here is high.”

The Seattle Seahawks are up next, led by pt_999.
