[FRIDAY DAY 2 LIVE BLOG IS HERE]

The 2019 NFL Draft officially begins for the Cleveland Browns and the rest of the teams in the NFL tonight at 8:00 PM ET. The mock drafts that are staff completed for the first round (and part of the second round) can be found here.

We will have all of your Browns-related coverage on the draft here at Dawgs By Nature throughout the weekend. There will be individual posts about each draft pick that Cleveland makes, or any other significant news. This thread will act as a “live blog” of sorts, with short one-liners about the latest small rumors, picks, or trades involving Cleveland or other NFL teams. You should also use the comments section as your NFL Draft open thread! (Newest updates will be at the top of the live blog below)

Browns NFL Draft Live Blog

[FRIDAY DAY 2 LIVE BLOG IS HERE]

12:04 AM: GM John Dorsey is actually doing a press conference still! He basically said that there was never a serious trade partner for the three players they may have been interested in. He also noted the number of cornerbacks available still; and how Day 2 is when they will be more serious about working the phones to move up or down in trades. Dorsey joked that this draft was unique because he was able to actually relax — listen to the TV draft commentary, and grab dinner (twice)!

Goodnight, everybody.

11:55 PM: We’ll leave you with some optimism heading into Day 2:

11:53 PM: With the 32nd pick of the first round, the Patriots drafted WR N’Keal Harry. And with that, the first round is over. Business will pick up Friday for Browns fans, as Cleveland is on the clock mid-way through the second and third rounds. We’ll have a new live blog, as well as mock drafts and updates to our big board/visit tracker.

11:48 PM: No action for the Browns tonight. Why? As Lane Adkins of The OBR says, the team didn’t want to trade their second- and third-round picks to move up.

11:46 PM: The Rams traded the No. 31 pick to the Atlanta Falcons, where they took OT Kaleb McGary. The final pick is up now.

11:43 PM: At No. 30, the Giants selected CB Deandre Baker. The Rams and Patriots are now the final two picks. There has been no noise on Cleveland making a move tonight.

11:38 PM: The Seahawks have back-to-back picks at No. 29 and No. 30. Based on how long they are taking to milk their picks, I assume they are trying to negotiate trades. At least at No. 29 overall, Seattle stayed put to select DE L.J. Collier.

And yes — pick No. 30 has been traded to the Giants, who also get three first-round picks!

11:24 PM: At No. 28 overall, the Chargers are taking DL Jerry Tillery.

11:18 PM: At No. 27 overall, the Raiders selected S Johnathan Abram, completing their three first-round picks. I had Abram going one pick later.

11:12 PM: The Redskins have moved back into the first round at No. 26, trading with the Colts. The Redskins took DE Montez Sweat, who I had going much earlier.

11:05 PM: The Ravens make a nice pick by grabbing WR Marquise Brown at No. 25.

10:58 PM: The reach of the draft went to the Texans, taking OT Tytys Howard at No. 23. Then, the Raiders took RB Josh Jacobs at No. 24, meaning I’ve now hit on four first-round picks! Let’s see who the Ravens get now.

10:42 PM: Now the trades are picking up. The Ravens were originally at No. 22, but now they have traded that pick to the Eagles, who selected OT Andre Dillard.

10:37 PM: The Packers wanted more! They traded up to No. 21 overall, so now the Seahawks hold No. 29 and No. 30. Those are two spots the Browns could consider trading up to for that fifth-year option if the right player is still available. Anyway, the Packers took...S Darnell Savage! Holy crap, I actually got that one right (the slot — I had him going No. 21).

10:29 PM: At No. 20 overall, the Denver Broncos, who traded back, selected TE Noah Fant. You have to consider this a big win for the Broncos; they get a tight end they may have wanted anyway at No. 10, and picked up more picks from Pittsburgh.

Another story to watch: very few offensive linemen and zero defensive backs have been drafted so far. That plays into the Browns’ hands if they want to trade up for someone, or stay patient and see who is left at No. 49 tomorrow.

10:22 PM: At No. 19 overall, the host city Tennessee Titans took DT Jeffery Simmons. So, Browns GM John Dorsey never had a shot of getting him. I wonder if this is a buzzkill for the city of Tennessee, knowing they got a guy who is out awhile.

10:15 PM: At No. 18 overall, the Vikings selected C Garrett Bradbury. I guess the Ravens will have to pick another center in a few picks.

10:10 PM: Here we go, the Browns’ pick at No. 17! Oh, wait — that’s right, they traded that to the Giants for Odell Beckham. Who did the Giants turn that pick in to? DT Dexter Lawrence. (Tumbleweed)

10:04 PM: Our community mock draft nailed No. 16, as the Carolina Panthers took edge rusher Brian Burns. I’m still surprised that we’re moving along with just one trade thus far in the draft. It’s like...am I watching the draft or not?

9:58 PM: And there we go! At No. 15 overall, the Redskins get to stay put and take QB Dwayne Haskins.

9:52 PM: At No. 14, the Atlanta Falcons selected OG Chris Lindstrom. The Redskins are now up at No. 15 — are they going to get Haskins without having to trade up?

9:46 PM: The Miami Dolphins didn’t take a QB — they go with DT Christian Wilkins at No. 13. This seems like a very dull first round this year, am I right? And I’m not just saying that because the Browns don’t have a first-round pick.

9:40 PM: With the 12th overall pick, the Green Bay Packers took DT Rashan Gary. The Dolphins are up next — could it be quarterback time?

9:33 PM: At No. 11 overall, the Cincinnati Bengals selected OT Jonah Williams.

9:26 PM: We have our first trade! As speculated earlier today, the Pittsburgh Steelers moved up to No. 10 overall. With the pick, they selected LB Devin Bush.

9:19 PM: At No. 9 overall, it ends up being DT Ed Oliver going to the Bills. The Broncos are now on the clock, and we’ve still yet to have a trade!

9:13 PM: Woohoo, I finally got another pick right! With the 8th overall pick, the Detroit Lions drafted TE T.J. Hockenson. The Buffalo Bills are up next, where it seems that either DT Ed Oliver or CB Greedy Williams will be taken.

9:07 PM: At No. 7 overall, the Jacksonville Jaguars picked DE Josh Allen. The Detroit Lions are up next.

9:02 PM: Whoa! The New York Giants bypassed on QB Dwayne Haskins at No. 6 overall, but still went with a quarterback: it is QB Daniel Jones.

8:56 PM: At No. 5 overall, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took LB Devin White. The next pick will be telling with the Giants on the clock! No trades so far either.

8:48PM: With the No. 4 overall pick, the Raiders selected DE Clelin Ferrell! Wow! The earliest he went in any of our DBN mock drafts was No. 26 overall. Mike Mayock doesn’t give a crap what anyone else has scouted.

8:39 PM: At No. 3 overall, the Jets selected DT Quinnen Williams, who the Browns will contend with on Monday Night Football in Week 2 now. I wish I wouldn’t have tried being cute with my mock draft and just gone with the commonly-thought “Murray-Bosa-Williams” trio to start the draft off. The first of three Raiders picks is next. Let’s see what Mike Mayock has in store for us!

8:30 PM: Ah, crap — there goes my perfect mock draft! With the No. 2 overall pick, the San Francisco 49ers selected DE Nick Bosa. The Jets are on the clock now.

8:25 PM: With the first overall pick, the Arizona Cardinals selected QB Kyler Murray. Now the question will be whether they deal QB Josh Rosen to someone. The pick took forever to come in. Last year, the Browns’ selection of QB Baker Mayfield was in around 8:13 PM. It took an extra ten minutes for the No. 1 pick this year.

8:00 PM: The 2019 NFL Draft is upon us! Remember, don’t treat tonight as a definite “day of nothing” for the Browns. It’s still at least possible that GM John Dorsey finds a way to trade up into the first round.

7:24 PM: Welp, it looks like WR Tyreek Hill is going to be out of the NFL with this audio that just came out. And now, the Chiefs have lost their top two offensive playmakers, presumably. Making matters worse, QB Patrick Mahomes was just revealed to be the Madden coverboy!

6:54 PM: Hmmm, could the Browns be interested?

6:35 PM: If there isn’t much news about the Browns today, let’s have fun learning about the draft in general, right? I loved reading this article, albeit brief, about how quickly workers have to react to printing a player’s name to a jersey when they walk out onto the stage.

6:30 PM: Hopefully we can get a better shot of it, but I found the Browns’ table location in Selection Square from a couple days ago. Cleveland’s table is in the back row, sandwiched between the Vikings and Panthers. Directly in front of them? The Pittsburgh Steelers, who are heavily rumored right now to be trading up for a linebacker.

6:20 PM: It’s always nice to see a Browns player recognized on the big screen! We’re on the hunt to see if the selection square tables have been posted yet, and where Cleveland’s table is at.

6:15 PM: Instead of opening a new thread, I think I’m just going to keep the action here for the day. Speaking of the draft, there are a ton of fans who have showed up to Nashville. Unfortunately, rain may put a bit of a damper on festivities for fans who can’t take cover.

3:47 PM: Matt Miller feels the Browns are poised to take a cornerback if they stay put at No. 49 overall.

2:52 PM: Here are some good draft rumors, including the Steelers maybe wanting to trade into the Top 10 for a linebacker:

2:00 PM: If you didn’t hear, we have an exclusive interview with Browns legend Joe Thomas! You can listen to it here. He talks about his own draft experience, his final season, and whether he thought about coming back for another.

11:40 AM: If you’re ever looking for a consensus of what the majority of mock drafts believe a team will select, then check out SB Nation’s Mock Draft database. I love doing this every year with the Browns, but again, sadly, I can’t do it this year because it only covers the first round.

By the way, last year, right after the draft, an early 2019 NFL Mock Draft projected DT Dexter Lawrence going to the Browns.

11:25 AM: Here is your final DBN Big Board (45 players) for the Cleveland Browns, as voted on by the community! Because quarterbacks were excluded from this year’s big board, that means there should at least be someone remaining on this thing by the time the Browns are on the clock at No. 49 overall, which was my goal.

One slight note that I should point out: DL Dre’Mont Jones likely would have been quite a bit higher on this list. Due to a technical issue, his votes were not being tallied in previous rounds of voting.

10:55 AM: The beast that is the Cleveland Browns 2019 NFL Draft Preview Roundtable is now live! If you haven’t followed the draft very much this year, maybe some of those questions and answers will get you in the spirit.

As an aside, I absolutely love running the draft live blog every year. One thing I definitely miss this year is going through all of the “final” mock drafts for the likes of Mel Kiper, Todd McShay, Dane Brugler, and Dan Kadar. Because they only consist of the first round, they are pointless for Cleveland fans.

10:05 AM: I spent time compiling all of the DBN roundtable comments together, so that feature will be coming soon. In the mean time, what position is the biggest area of need for the Cleveland Browns heading into this year’s draft?

It’s a tie between safety and linebacker, each with 46%. No one voted for defensive tackle, so that made me re-think whether I should have had cornerback or offensive tackle as one of the three options instead. However, “other” only received 8% of the vote anyway, so it wouldn’t have influenced the results too much.

8:50 AM: We’ll also be touching on some of the bigger NFL rumors today, even if they don’t involve the Browns, because we need something to talk about, right? One rumor is that the Raiders could be looking at QB Dwayne Haskins at No. 4 overall.

8:28 AM: Here is this year’s draft hat for the Cleveland Browns. The hat for the Browns is less of a deal since the team doesn’t have any first-round picks. The design is supposed to tie in the state of Ohio flag. I think it is ok, but feedback on social media did not seem to go over very well. You can also see a picture of many of the draft hats being sold for other teams in the mini-gallery below.

8:15 AM: Good morning, everyone! Let’s start off with some quick primer news for tonight. The first round of the draft takes place THURSDAY, APRIL 25TH at 8:00 PM ET. The Browns have no picks after having traded No. 17 overall to the New York Giants for WR Odell Beckham Jr. But could the Browns trade back into the first round? That is a topic we will discuss in the draft roundtable discussion I’m compiling right now. If there is a team taking offers for that coveted fifth-year option, it could be the Los Angeles Rams:
