Browns hosted DT Jeffery Simmons for pre-draft visit Wednesday

Despite a torn ACL, the Browns wanted a closer look at Simmons.

The Cleveland Browns hosted DT Jeffery Simmons for a pre-draft visit on Wednesday. The Mississippi State product is someone who GM John Dorsey has had his eye on. Simmons’ draft stock took a big hit when he tore his ACL, but the feeling is that he has so much potential that he could still end up being a first-round prospect.

If he happens to fall down to No. 49, though, he is someone who Dorsey might pull the trigger on. Simmons tipped everyone off of his visit by posting video of him in Cleveland and at the Browns’ headquarters in Berea on Wednesday.

The Browns know they won’t need to bring in many first-round prospects since they don’t have a pick, so I’m fine with them talking to Simmons and getting to know him better, in the event he slips down to the middle of the second round.
