On Wednesday, the NFL announced that RB Kareem Hunt will not be permitted at the Browns’ facility in Berea during his 8-game suspension, which begins at 4:00 PM on Saturday. WR Antonio Callaway, who recently received a 4-game suspension, will be allowed to attend meetings in Berea.

Why the difference? Callaway’s issue is related to substance abuse, while Hunt’s issue is related to personal conduct. The Browns tried to appeal for Hunt to be able to attend meetings, but the ruling did not allow for an exception. Browns QB Baker Mayfield told the following to the Associated Press upon hearing that Hunt wouldn’t be allowed in Berea:
“It hurts him not to be around there because if you can be around your teammates, that can help you keep a positive attitude, and that definitely helps. So that’s tough to hear.’’
Both Hunt and Callaway will begin the season on the suspension list when roster cuts are due, and will not have to count toward the team’s 53-man roster until they are reinstated.
