You’d think after all these years, we would learn by now: the Cleveland Browns never make it through a bye week without some type of negative headline. At 10:00 AM on Sunday, the team announced that starting quarterback Baker Mayfield has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list:

According to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, Mayfield was placed on the list because a close contact tested positive — not Mayfield himself. That close contact is a staff member within the Browns organization.

Now, it will be a waiting game to see if Mayfield can be cleared by Wednesday, or if we’ll have to start thinking about the possibility of backup Case Keenum suiting up in Week 10 against the Houston Texans.
