Browns Backers Presidents just don’t simply look good and do all the work to organize their chapters. They know football, and more importantly, know Cleveland Browns football.
The Wichita, Kansas chapter has some interesting traditions. They are very active with cheers for various occurrences during games. They feature a cheer for every first down with a designated soul to lead it, a Myles Garrett cheer, a “Chubb Train” cheer that goes something like, “Chubba, Chubba, Chubba, CHOO! CHOO!. The latter is both awesome and obnoxious and they have proof.
Each week, DBN invites five Browns Backers chapter Presidents to provide their insight with the outcome of Cleveland’s next opponent.
This week’s Presidents and their predictions:
Susquehanna Valley Browns Backers
President: Howie Smith
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
Favorite former player: Gary Collins
Favorite current player: Baker Mayfield
Viewing location: Ted’s Bar and Grill
Best menu item: Wings and Perogies
Weekly prediction: “This game means little to the Steelers. They’ll be resting many of their starters, and the Browns need this one to get into the postseason for the first time since 2003. With no running game and a Browns team that must win, the Steelers will mail this one in. The Browns’ running attack and short passing game will control the pace of the game. A rested defense will be able to keep the Steelers in check. The 11-5 Browns will enter the playoffs hoping to play the role of spoiler, and look forward to 2021 with as much anticipation as the rest of us. Browns 33, Steelers 13”

OZ Chapter
President: Josh Remacle
Wichita, Kansas
Favorite former player: Phil Dawson
Favorite current player: Nicholas Jamaal Chubb
Viewing location: Quincy’s Bar and Grill
Best menu item: Prime rib sandwich
Weekly prediction: “Likely a tight game, but I think the Browns come away with the victory. Baker and the offense are playing better than ever, Garrett/Vernon will keep plenty of pressure on Roethlisberger to force some hurried throws, and the Steelers dropped balls will lend a helpful hand to our struggling secondary. Browns win 28-24. Bring on the playoffs!”

Western New York Browns Backers
President: Amy McShane
Depew, New York
Favorite former player: Phil Dawson
Favorite current player: Nick Chubb
Viewing location: Tully’s Good Times
Best menu item: Chicken-n-Cheese
Weekly prediction: “It’s been a real pleasure watching the Browns this season, even though most of it has been spent at home with a six-pack of Great Lakes. At the time of writing, the Steelers are coming away from their Week 15 MNF game against the Bengals with their 3rd straight loss but then beat the Colts. Now the game against the Steelers could be the biggest in decades for the Browns. Ben Roethlisberger hasn’t posted a better QBR than Baker since Week 11 against the Jaguars, and Baker is currently ranked 5thoverall on the season. Regardless of post-season implications, look for Stefanski and Mayfield to come prepared and strike quickly against the team’s long-time nemesis. Browns 24, Steelers 17”

Pittsburgh Browns Backers
President: Paul Carson
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Favorite former player: Dave Logan
Favorite current player: Nick Chubb
Viewing location: Mario’s East Side Saloon
Best menu item: Hand-tossed pizza
Weekly prediction: “My opinion has changed about the Steelers since their loss to the Bengals. Big Ben’s arm has been reduced to a fraction of what we have seen from him in the past. He is off-target quite a bit and cannot throw the deep ball. The Browns defense will have a good game with a strip sack from Myles Garrett. Our offense will be tempered by the Steelers defense which remain one of the league’s best, but we will come out with a win and take the last playoff spot. Browns 24, Steelers 7.”

Southeast Michigan Browns Backers
President: Stan Skryzpiec
Detroit, Michigan
Favorite former player: Eddie Johnson
Favorite current player: Myles Garrett
Viewing location: World of Beer
Best menu item: Black and Blue flatbread
Weekly prediction: “Well, this is the final game of the regular season. The Browns are coming off a very disappointing loss to the 2-13 Jets, due, in part, to having their top four wide receivers put on the last-minute COVID-reserved list. Kudos to the New York’s D-coordinator for exploiting this to the fullest and stymying the Browns’ offense most of the game. I’m anticipating the WRs return for the Steelers’ game and hope that the offense will have its chemistry back. This game looms large for the Browns and is truly a must win game, with Baltimore nipping at their heels.
Pittsburgh has clinched the AFC North and have secured a playoff spot. They were able to stop their skid at three games with a come-from-behind victory against the Colts. They have little more to prove, especially in light of the fact that few Pittsburgh players consider any real rivalry still exists between the two clubs (yeah, well tell that to the fans.) They’ll play tough, as always, but—since they’ve already locked up a playoff spot—I’m hoping they’ll be looking beyond the Browns and focusing on the playoffs.
It will be a battle, as always, but I believe the Browns will have the greater hunger and need (win or go home) for a win. Cleveland 24, Pittsburgh 23”
