With the 10th pick of the 2020 DBN Community NFL Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns select...

Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama

The selection and write-up were made by xfl2001fan:

With the 10th Pick in the Draft, the Browns take Lamar Jackson...just kidding. RIP Grimflick.

With the 4 best defenders all gone, the Browns have walked into a position where the best player available happens to also fit a glaring need. Mekhi Becton and Jedrick Wills are both offensive tackles that may have some question marks. Becton is a behemoth with insane athleticism but has a lot of work to do with his technique. Jedrick Wills is a supreme technician who protected the blindside of his QB, Tua Tagovailoa...but that QB was a lefty so Wills played on the right side. Both have potential Hall of Fame Talent (yes, I said it), so if you’re going to bet on one, bet on the one guy who has the highest floor. The odds of either guy making the Hall of Fame are pretty slim. They’re already behind the power curve because they play on the O-Line and there just isn’t enough flashy stats.

So, the Browns take the Offensive Tackle from Alabama, Jedrick Wills. His functional strength would be among the best in most drafts, especially with the power he produces in the run game. He’s a mauler in the run game, but also has fantastic feet and hand placement as a pass protector. He might be the most pro-ready tackle in the draft (and that’s with the potential for him to move to the left side). Wills is able to mirror his opponents exceptionally well but also has a strong anchor against bull rushers. If you’re building a prototype offensive tackle, you want a guy with good length, power, hand placement, feet, football IQ, quickness. He checks every block. Every. Block. If there’s any knock against him, it is that he sometimes is so eager to maul the guy across from him, that he’ll forget the snap count. He racked up way too many false-start penalties last year.

If you want a tackle who can pass protect. You want this 6’5 320lb man mirroring the speed/counter rushers. You want the guy who can take on the power of a Derrick Brown and uproot him. If you like a guy who has some Dawg in him, he is absolutely chirping at the guys he beats (and he wins way more than he loses). There’s nothing wrong with this young man that even a little bit of coaching can do. So, here’s to hoping that Bill Callahan can fix the one issue that plagued him last year. Jedrick Wills, welcome to the Dawg Pound!

Pokorny: “This is a spot where I’m perfectly happy with the Browns taking any offensive tackle in the top four of this year’s class. Here, it comes down to Wills and Becton. I still maintain my intrigue for Becton, but I have no complaints about Wills.”

The New York Jets are up next, led by Adam Rice.
