The Jets and Browns have remarkably similar teams when you look at them on paper. Young, exciting quarterbacks and Pro Bowl level running backs in the backfield. Both teams can boast young defenses that have a chance to improve this year with some retooling. Not only that, but they have similar deficiencies along the offensive line. And I was coming into this year’s mock draft thinking about addressing that need since the Jets missed out on the big OL target this year, Jack Conklin, to the Browns during the early stages of free agency. Yet, with the selections made directly ahead of me it forced me to look at the Jets other major area of concern.

This offseason Gang Green lost Robby Anderson to the Panthers and it leaves their WR room looking a little thin. They did bring on former first round draftees Josh Doctson and Breshad Perriman, but they are both lottery tickets rather than true solutions in this area. Considering this draft is deepest along the line, I think now would be the best time to take one of the best receivers in this draft.

I’ll admit, Lamb is my favorite WR in this draft. Every time I had the chance to watch Oklahoma play this year, he was making plays and running from everyone. He’s an excellent route runner and shows great hands. Lamb is not afraid to make the tough catch and can run away from defenders. Lamb is also a willing blocker. He can play any role asked on offense, and I think he’ll be the exact kind of weapon Sam Darnold can make real use off. This will hopefully help the Jets offense find their rhythm and finally help their developing QB get off on the right foot to start the 2020 season. Whenever that may be.

Pokorny: “The Jets lack star receiving threats, even though Breshad Perriman has had some breakout moments the past two years. Adding some help for Sam Darnold is the right pick in my book.”
