We continued our training camp preview this week, focusing on the running back and fullback positions. At the end of each preview, we include a poll to gauge fan feedback heading into the season.
Our first poll for the running back position looks at the utilization of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. 83% of fans think that the Browns should ride both backs, with Chubb getting more overall work in a 60/40 type of split. I hope Kevin Stefanski can find a way to get the best out of both players, but the truth is that it is going to be a much more difficult task than it sounds. Something sounds good on paper, but when the actual flow of the game is happening, sometimes before you know it, someone’s reps are left out. Will that be with Hunt? A receiver? A tight end?

Chubb should be the workhorse back, with Hunt only playing in sub-packages or as a third down back

Both backs are great, so Cleveland should ride them both: Chubb gets more overall work (60%), but Hunt is not too far behind (40%).

Call me crazy, but I’d use Hunt a little more than Chubb on gameday.
In Part 2 of our preview, we looked at the contenders to be the No. 3 running back on the depth chart. Many users pointed out how important this role could be, since the running back could become the backup in 2021 if Kareem Hunt does not re-sign in Cleveland. Rookie Brian Herrien garnered the most support with 35% of the vote, but the other three backs each had a fair amount of support too. This competition seems to be wide open heading into camp.

It’s a waste of a position these days.
