We finished covering the special teams unit in our training camp previews this past week. At the end of each preview, we include a poll to gauge fan feedback heading into the season.
In Part 1 of our ST preview, we first asked about the expectations this season for Austin Seibert. 54% think he’ll be very reliable, while 45% think he’ll be about the same as last year. The good thing is that only 1% think he’ll be a disaster.

When it comes to Jamie Gillan, a staggering 84% of fans think he’ll become a Pro Bowler this year. For that number, it’s better to look at the high level of fan support that Gillan has. The odds of him actually becoming a Pro Bowler aren’t the best, since there are more established punters in the AFC and only one guy can get that honor.

When it comes to punt return, 68% of fans think Donovan Peoples-Jones will be the guy, with 26% voting for Natson. The polls were independent of each other, but there is sort of a disconnect between them, because Natson will not make the roster if he is not serving as both the kick and punt returner. It’s possible we could see Peoples-Jones as the punt returner and Hilliard as the kick returner, saving a roster spot of a specialist and using that toward a gunner instead.
