Injury Notes

  • The Browns have three players ruled out for Sunday: LB Jacob Phillips, DE Olivier Vernon, and CB Greedy Williams.
  • The big news is the status of starting CB Denzel Ward, who came down with a groin injury in practice this week. He was limited on Thursday, and the team opted to hold him out of practice on Friday. It sounded like head coach Kevin Stefanski will know later today what Ward’s status will be for Sunday, but he was listed as questionable for the injury report.
  • If Ward can’t play, then CB Kevin Johnson will make his debut, returning from injury, as an outside cornerback. If Ward is able to play, then Johnson would slide in as the nickelback.
  • LB Mack Wilson is listed as questionable after being a limited participant in practice this week. It’s not known whether he will make his debut on Sunday, or if the team will be cautious and wait another week with him. DE Adrian Clayborn is questionable; I think he’ll be active for emergency situations, much like OT Jack Conklin was active a week ago.
  • Speaking of Conklin, he is good-to-go and will start at right tackle this Sunday.
  • Even though he’s not listed in the injury report, it’s worth noting that starting RG Brandon Scherff was placed on IR this week for Washington.
