NFL Honors: Browns’ Kevin Stefanski named AP Coach of the Year, other awards announced (video)

The annual awards are announced, plus a video clip of Steve Harvey praising the Cleveland Browns in his opening monologue.

Congratulations to Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, who was named the AP Coach of the Year! Here was the big reveal:

Stefanski earned 25 of the 50 votes, a far distance ahead of the Bills’ Sean McDermott (7 votes) and DolphinsBrian Flores (6 votes). Stefanski is the second Browns coach to win the award — Forrest Gregg last won it in 1976.

The tenth annual NFL Honors show was televised Saturday night, albeit virtually this year thanks to the pandemic. Steve Harvey was the host for the third straight year, and with him being from Cleveland, he again featured the Browns prominently in the opening monologue, including a shout out to WR Jarvis Landry:

Here are the rest of the awards for the NFL, as announced by the Associated Press.


Offensive Rookie of the Year:

The winner is Chargers QB Justin Herbert, who had 41 votes. The only other person who received votes was Vikings WR Justin Jefferson (9).


Defensive Rookie of the Year:

The winner is Football Team DE Chase Young, who had 42.5 votes. The other people who got votes were Panthers S Jeremy Chinn (4.5), Ravens LB Patrick Queen (2), and Buccaneers S Antoine Winfield Jr (1).


Assistant Coach of the Year:

The winner is Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, who had 28 votes. The other people who got votes were Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley (5.5), Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy (5), Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith (3.5), Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles (2), Browns offensive line coach Bill Callahan (1), Steelers defensive coordinator Keith Butler (1), Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen (1), Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier (1), Football Team defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio (1), and Chargers quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton (1).


Coach of the Year:

The winner is Browns HC Kevin Stefanski, who had 25 votes. The other people who got votes were the Bills’ Sean McDermott (7), Dolphins’ Brian Flores (6), Football Team’s Ron Rivera (4), Packers’ Matt LaFleur (3), Chiefs’ Andy Reid (3), and Saints’ Sean Payton (2).


Defensive Player of the Year:

The winner is Rams DT Aaron Donald, who had 27 votes. The other people who got votes were Steelers DE T.J. Watt (20) and Dolphins CB Xavien Howard (3).


Offensive Player of the Year:

The winner is Titans RB Derrick Henry, who had 32 votes. The other people who got votes were Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (5), Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (5), Bills QB Josh Allen (3), Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (3), and Saints RB Alvin Kamara (2).


Comeback Player of the Year:

The winner is Football Team QB Alex Smith, who had 49 votes. The only other person who received a vote was Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (1).


Most Valuable Player:

The winner is Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, who had 44 votes. The other people who got votes were Bills QB Josh Allen (4) and Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (2).


Hall of Fame Class of 2021
