During free agency, the Cleveland Browns signed LB Anthony Walker to a 1-year deal worth $3 million. Much like some of Andrew Berry’s other free agent signings, the deal includes some void years to save some cap space in 2021 and shift that extra burden to 2022.

LB Anthony Walker’s Contract, Cap Hits Per Year

Year Base Salary Signing Bonus Roster Bonus Void Total Cap Hit
Year Base Salary Signing Bonus Roster Bonus Void Total Cap Hit
2021 $1,000,000 $581,666 $255,000 $0 $1,836,666
2022 $0 $581,667 $0 $581,667 $1,163,334

Total $1,000,000 $1,745,000 $255,000 $0 $3,000,000
  • Walker has $1.745 million in full guarantees, which consists entirely of his signing bonus. The signing bonus is spread out over three years, even though Walker’s contract is only a 1-year deal. In 2022, Walker’s remaining two years will void, and Cleveland will accelerate a dead cap hit of $1.163 million.
  • Walker’s base salary in 2021 is $1 million. He also has a $255,000 roster bonus, which will give him $15,000 for every game that he’s active this season.
  • There is also a $500,000 incentive in Walker’s contract, should he be named an NFL All-Pro in 2021.
