Just a short video today, but this is an example of how fun it is to watch Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah’s college film. As we are all getting excited for the season to start, this kind of tape fires me up, and I hope it gets you excited too.
I’d like to emphasize here that this is not something we can expect JOK to do regularly, or even at all vs. NFL competition.
With that said, a player does not control who his opponent is. When you see a draft prospect go up against good competition, you get excited because it becomes easier to project them to playing in the NFL. When they go up against lesser competition (sorry Syracuse fans), you want to see them play like they are in an And-1 mixtape.
We’ve all heard the mantra “do your job” as it pertains to football players. And yes, I hope that all of our Browns can take care of their business on and off the field. But when a player can not only do their job, but do that and then go above and beyond, you might have a playmaker on your hands.
Another mantra for offensive coaches is “if you can’t block him, option him”. And on this play, JOK broke both of the above mantras. He did his job and that of two other defenders on the same play. And Syracuse tried to option him, but it did not go well:
