Browns Backers Presidents just don’t simply look good and do all the work to organize their chapters. They know football, and more importantly, know Cleveland Browns football.
The Browns Backers of Hilton Head Island chapter has spent the past two seasons building both their local membership as well as welcoming all visitors to this tourist-oriented area. They do orange Jell-O shots after each Browns’ touchdown - while they last. For fun they try to do a pajama party for a night game once a year. In the past before the pandemic, they were able to do bus trips and a BYE Week Bar Crawl.

This chapter also does their fair share of fundraising. The past two years they have made two of the largest donations of toys to “Toys for Tots” of any location on the island. This year they are switching to help families more directly through the “Angel Wish Tree Program” run by the local Child Abuse Prevention Association. The Hilton Head Island group started the first three weeks of the season in support of Hilton Head Humane Association through their “Going to the Dawgs (and Cats)” supply drive. Members and visitors were dropping off items from the Humane Association’s wish list plus cash donations.
Each week, DBN invites five Browns Backers chapter Presidents to provide their insight with the outcome of Cleveland’s next opponent.

Central California Browns Backers
President: Mark Frantz
Fresno, California
Favorite former player: Leroy Kelly
Favorite current player: Kareem Hunt
Viewing location: BJ’s Restaurant
Best menu item: Deep dish pizza
Weekly prediction: “The Browns face a Bears team that seems to be in transition. After finally throwing in the towel on Mentor, Ohio native QB Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago picked another QB with some buckeye state background. Anyone who follows Ohio State knows Justin Fields went to the Windy City as a first-round draft choice in 2021. He gets the start against a remade Brownie defense that unleashes the hounds and puts together the kind of game we’ve been waiting to see. A five sack, two interception explosion from the likes of Jadeveon Clowney, Myles Garrett, Greg Newsome, and JOK set up the offense with great field position all game. Baker Mayfield has a big day hitting on TD passes to David Njoku and Kareem Hunt while Nick Chubb tops 100 yards rushing in back-to-back weeks and scores two rushing touchdowns. Cleveland 35, Chicago 6.”

Quebec Dawg Pound
President: Jean Cabot
Ville de Quebec, Quebec - Canada
Favorite former player: Clay Matthews
Favorite current player: Myles Garrett
Viewing location: Pub Chez Girard
Best menu item: Cheeseburger
Weekly prediction: “The Browns offensive line is ranked by many experts as one of the best in the NFL. Add to that a great one-two punch at running back, the Bears’ defense is not a good match-up for the running game. On the other side of the ball, excellent pass rush and improvement in the secondary will do a great job. BROWNS by two scores, 34-17.”

Gwinnett GA Browns Backers
President: Deke Young
Sugar Hill, Georgia
Favorite former player: Hanford Dixon
Favorite current player: Rashard Higgins
Viewing location: American Legion Post 127
Best menu item: Cheeseburger
Weekly prediction: “The Browns came up short in Week 1 vs. the Chiefs when they could not contain Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelsey and Tyreek Hill. None of these play for Chicago. The Bears will be starting rookie Justin Fields. Cole Kemet and Allen Robinson are hardly the same threat as Kelsey and Hill. The Browns start our early and cruise to an easy two score lead. Chubb and Hunt will grind the clock. Expect the bench to get a lot of snaps in the second half. Browns 31, Bears 10.”

Browns Backers of Hilton Head Island
President: Jason Todd
Hilton Head Island, South Carolina
Favorite former player: Hanford Dixon
Favorite current player: Myles Garrett
Viewing location: Street Meet The American Tavern
Best menu item: Soul Kitchen - Chipotle ranch tossed wings and fries basket
Weekly prediction: “If Week 1 was an indicator of things to come, Baker and the passing game should jump out to an early lead in this one. The Bears’ secondary is suspect and the Browns’ offense looked very capable for most of the game in KC. Hunt will be involved in both the air and ground attack. Slipping him out for a screen could slow the Bears’ pass rush. The TE’s should also see a lot more targets in this one. Of course, the backbone of the offense Nick Chubb will pound the ball with the lead and preserve this win.
The defense should prepare for more Justin Fields even if Andy Dalton is still starting this game. The Bears also come in with a strong backfield led by David Montgomery. He is a strong runner that will test our tacklers. The defense should be able to gel a little more with the new starters by Week 3 and we could see the Bears’ offense struggle to score. The Browns will beat the Bears at home 31-17.”

Point Place Dawg Pound
President: Becky Turner
Toledo, Ohio
Favorite former player: Bernie Kosar
Favorite current player: Myles Garrett
Viewing location: Mayfly Tavern
Best menu item: Bacon mushroom Swiss burger with hand-cut fries
Weekly prediction: “It is wonderful to see the way our team is coming together. As a life-long Browns fan, I believe our time has finally arrived. We have so much talent and with Baker and Coach Stefanski leading the team I see great things in our future. I always hoped for greatness for the Cleveland Browns, and after last season’s accomplishments I know we can go all the way! We want it more! Browns 24-17”
