2023 draft projection

As I’ve done for several years I’m collecting the free player evaluations from several (7) web sites and attempting to create a consolidated record to show the consensus ranking of the top players available in the draft. In past seasons, selecting the consensus top 65 players has revealed an excellent identification of the top 40 to 50 draft choices. I’ve done this collection after the end of the college season and before the All-Star games and the Combine. I’ll update the list shortly before the draft.

Since the Browns have the #42, 98, 110 & 124th picks in the draft I decided to show the top 100 players as judged by the various draft sites. It has been shown to me by the past studies that despite what teams say about "best player available" the selections have a definite positional need aspect beginning sometime in the second round. Probably to a lesser degree starting after the first 5 or 6 picks as well.

The below list is the consensus of sites with the players down to Zion Nelson listed on all seven sites. From Nelson down to Tyler Davis were named on six of the seven sites. The rest of the list were only named on five of the seven sites.

In the past this list will change with greater consensus as we approach the draft. Surprisingly there has not been much difference in the top 65 each year.

If I had to guess the Brown’s picks I would suspect Dexter (DT, FL) at #42 and Hall (DE, Auburn) at #98 which would free AB to actually take the best player available at #110 & #124 within the team need context (LB, S, WR, C). Alternately the Browns might look for Roy (DT, LSU), Van Ness (DE, Iowa) and Young (DE, Alabama) with their early picks.
