The Cleveland Browns are 8-5 in the 2023 NFL season with a big win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14. The Browns are currently the top wild-card team in the AFC. While they might have a hard time catching the Baltimore Ravens for the AFC North crown, two games behind at this point, Cleveland has been impressive despite QB struggles.
In Week 14, Joe Flacco was elevated off the practice squad and given the starting nod despite Dorian Thompson-Robinson being cleared from concussion protocol this week. DTR was listed as the team’s starter before the concussion.
Then Flacco threw for 311 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the Browns win over the Jaguars. HC Kevin Stefanski had seen enough:
“Joe has been in big games. We feel comfortable with him leading the football team.” https://t.co/piV0HSuDfU— Zac Jackson (@AkronJackson) December 10, 2023
It is likely that Cleveland will add Flacco to the active roster this week but could wait one more week and elevate him off the practice squad for Week 15.
Thompson-Robinson will be the backup and is available to run a package of plays as he did against Jacksonville.
No more wondering. No more questions. It if officially Flacco time for the Browns for the rest of 2023.
