The Cleveland Browns never-ending changing roster due to injuries has been difficult to keep up with. Whether it is the 53-man roster or the practice squad, remembering who is on the team can be a bit overwhelming.
Today I was reminded that OL Leroy Watson is on the team’s active roster and OL Justin Murray was on the practice squad when discussing replacements for injured Dawand Jones.
The Browns also have to get starting QB Joe Flacco onto the active roster no later than Week 16 so more roster moves are expected especially with some injury concerns.
DE Sam Kamara come on down:
#Browns calling up DE Sam Kamara to the active roster, per his agent Matt Leist of LAA Sports— Jake Trotter (@Jake_Trotter) December 12, 2023
Wait, not Flacco? Not a replacement for Jones?
Not only is the report confusing but it also brings up concerns about an injury at defensive end. Cleveland has kept DE Isaiah McGuire inactive most of the year so the team clearly doesn’t need another edge player unless there is an injury.
DE Ogbonnia Okoronkwo was hurt during the Week 14 win while star DE Myles Garrett has been dealing with a shoulder issue. Perhaps we will hear news about one of them or another defensive lineman dealing with an issue.
In two years in the league, Kamara has played in nine games, including one with Cleveland. He accumulated 10 tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass defended in 2021 with the Chicago Bears.
We will keep you up to date on roster moves and injury news as it becomes available.
