The Cleveland Browns are at home to face the New York Jets in Week 17 of the 2023 NFL season this Thursday, December 28, at 8:15 PM ET. The Browns are 7.5-point favorites against the Jets, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. Here are my favorite player prop bets from the Browns’ perspective in Week 17.
I was 1/3 on my player prop bets last week.
Browns vs. Jets: Best NFL player prop bets
RB Kareem Hunt Over 26.5 Yards Rushing (-120)
The Browns faced some poor pass defenses the past few weeks, but they also faced some of the best run defenses in the NFL. This week, it is flipped: they’re facing a great pass defense, but a run defense that isn’t as good. Don’t get me wrong: the Jets’ run defense isn’t porous per se, but teams would rather attack it. I think Cleveland will get back to running the ball a bit more 50/50 with the pass ratio this week, finding enough success for Hunt to get above 26 yards rushing.
DE Myles Garrett Over 0.75 Sacks (-125)
The Jets rank 32nd in the NFL on offense, and are ranked 30th in sacks allowed per pass attempt (11.38%). Even though bets on Myles Garrett haven’t paid off for a month, I think it’s still worth a bet at him breaking that streak here.
K Riley Patterson Over 1.5 Field Goals (-125)
With Dustin Hopkins out, it’s worth noting that the Browns have been in field goal range a lot this season, even if it’s just because of their defense. Last week, without a kicker, the Browns could’ve had several field goal attempts. The Jets’ offense is awful, which should lead to a lot of punts and shorter fields — but the Jets’ defense is good enough to hold off the passing game, creating some field goal opportunities for Cleveland’s new kicker, Riley Patterson. I’ll take the over on 1.5 field goals for him.
