  • DL: We saw Myles Garrett snap his sackless streak, and he also had four hits on the quarterback. Alex Wright isn’t necessarily lighting up the PFF grade charts each week, but when a player has 1-2 high-impact plays each week, that’s a huge thing in my opinion, especially when it’s part of a collective group of guys who each take turns having those big plays. Wright logged a sack for the third straight game and also defended a pass. Shelby Harris blocked a field goal to stall the Jets’ early third quarter momentum.
  • LB: Sione Takitaki had 16 tackles, which was a career high for him and the most since Joe Schobert had 16 tackles in September 2019. It wasn’t all fluff, too, as Takitaki received the second-highest grade on defense from PFF with an 88.5.
  • CB: Greg Newsome (83.7) had another solid performance at corner for the Browns. Cleveland’s other two corners, Martin Emerson and Denzel Ward, had average games on the PFF grade sheet; pretty much holding their ground, but nothing spectacular. The group combined to defend four passes. Cleveland only had to use three cornerbacks for much of the game, as Cameron Mitchell only had 3 snaps.
  • S: Despite the short week, the few extra days were enough to allow Juan Thornhill to make his return at safety. He ended up having one of his best games of the season, playing 80% of the snaps. The story here continues to be Ronnie Hickman, though, who played 56% of the snaps and graded out to a team-high 92.5 grade by PFF, with his pick six no doubt being an exclamation mark. Veteran safety Duron Harmon (83.4) did well with his limited reps too. It has been awesome to see the Browns’ young and new veteran safety step up with solid efforts each week in the absence of Thornhill and Grant Delpit; that room is stacked for when everyone is healthy come playoff time.
