We are a little less than 48 hours away from two AFC playoff contenders, and the current 4th and 5th seeds in the conference, matching up in Week 14 of the 2023 NFL season. The Cleveland Browns have been dealing with quarterback issues all season with Week 13 seeing Joe Flacco become their fourth starter of the year.
For the Jacksonville Jaguars, things had been much smoother with Trevor Lawrence until he was injured on Monday Night Football.
No one expected Lawrence to start this week while Dorian Thompson-Robinson started practicing while in concussion protocol. Thursday saw the Jaguars starter return to practice on a limited basis while backup CJ Beathard was also limited.
Friday came news that Lawrence would be questionable for Sunday’s game:
Jaguars HC Doug Pederson said Trevor Lawrence will be questionable & game-time decision for Sunday vs. Browns.— Cameron Wolfe (@CameronWolfe) December 8, 2023
Lawrence moved around a little at practice yday & will today. Pederson said he’s “optimistic” for this weekend & talked Lawrence’s history of playing week after injury.
The Browns also saw DTR clear concussion protocol on Friday but no starter was named for the home team:
#Browns Kevin Stefanski is not naming a starting quarterback at this time. Both Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Joe Flacco are available for Sunday.— Camryn Justice (@camijustice) December 8, 2023
Weather could play a factor for Jacksonville as risking their star QB in a muddy, rain game may not be in their best interest.
Cleveland seems to be leaning toward starting the veteran Flacco but the rookie Thompson-Robinson is listed as the team’s starter.
We will have the full injury reports for you later this afternoon.
