When the Jacksonville Jaguars signed another quarterback to their active roster, which could mean QB Trevor Lawrence is not playing in Week 14, it seemed like the biggest news coming out on Saturday.
While it was big, it was not the only big news as the Cleveland Browns got into the act themselves.
In a slew of official news, the Browns roster saw QB Joe Flacco elevated from the practice squad, CB Cameron Mitchell activated from the injured reserve and QB PJ Walker waived from the roster. The team also announced that OL Dawand Jones was downgraded to out for Sunday.
Jones was questionable due to a knee issue that kept him out of practice on Friday.
The biggest news could be related to WR Amari Cooper:
#Browns star WR Amari Cooper, listed as questionable with a rib injury and a concussion, received his final clearance from the independent neurological consultant and is out of the concussion protocol, sources say.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) December 9, 2023
He’ll play on Sunday vs the #Jaguars.
Cooper’s status has not been confirmed by the team.
Flacco’s elevation is no surprise as he seems likely to start this week. Cleveland can elevate him for one more game before having to sign him to the active roster in order for him to play. Walker’s spot on the active roster would have been eliminated next week to make room for Flacco but Mitchell’s return, and potentially Jones’ injury, sped that up for a week.
Likely, Walker is back on the practice squad for Week 15.
Which is bigger for the Browns this week: Cooper IN, Jones OUT?
