Cedric Tillman- WR- Tennesse- My Rank WR 20
Pros
Tillman is the Nelson Muntz of the SEC and absolute bully to smaller defensive backs. Tillman is not afraid to get physical and throw guys around out there. He has a large frame and catch radius, coupled with the strength to win in contested catch situations. Love how reliable his hands are, drops should be rare from him. The large frame is going to come in handy as a run blocker kinda like having a mini TE out wide. Has a very safe and projectable playstyle easily can come in and fill a role. Dad was an NFL WR
Cons
Ran a very limited route tree in the Vols offense. Struggles to get separation because he lacks top end speed and the suddenness you need to create space. Will need to be a beast at the catch point to thrive in the NFL as he won't benefit from the coverage busts he saw in college. Contested catch rate dropped from 75% in 21 to 42% in 22. That needs to be his bread and butter so hopefully that is small sample noise. Limited versatility can only play on the outside.
Bottom Line
Tillman is the type of player that 5-10 years ago I would have probably ranked as a top 5 WR. I've become a little more nervous about this type of prospect as contested catch specialists have a hard time translating to the NFL. Regardless you can always find a role for a big bodied physical WR who can block. His skillset fits the current roster perfectly we have a mix of every type of receiver at the moment. Tillman's ultimate upside comes down to how much subtly in route running can he learn and just how good can he get at boxing out and winning footballs in the air.
Siaki Ika- Baylor- NT- My Rank NT 1
Pros
Absolutely massive human being to put in the middle of your DL. Even when he's not playing well he takes up space. Capable of playing with impressive power and can be hard to move. Light on his feet for a big man, he moves better than you might think for his size. I have seen him dominate football games before, Iowa State this past season is a major example. Capable of pushing IOL back into the face of the QB. Has the potential to be one of the best NTs in the game if he irons some things out.
Cons
Consistency is a big issue with him, I have seen him dominate and I have seen him get pushed around by O Lines. Part of the issue is that Ika has short arms so sometimes he loses the race to get the first punch in. He also struggles to get free from his blocker. He'll eat space and push guys around but don't necessarily expect him to rack up tfls/sacks. Obviously not the most versatile player. Could end being just a rotational big body if he doesn't become more consistent.
Bottom Line
Ika has a very projectable role in the NFL he can come in right now and eat up some space. Was not a fan of when he was rumored to be our pick at 42 but at the end of the 3rd round this is acceptable value. His game is going to come down to consistency can he more regularly find those dominant moments. His sheer mass means he will always have a role so again another safe pick this time with a major upside. The Browns currently outside of Tomlinson have undersized players on the front so Ika is perfect to balance that out. If you read my DT's in Shwartz system post you'll know I am quite surprised by this pick.
Dawand Jones,Ohio State ,RT, My Rank Tackle 8
Pros
He's massive not many dudes this big in the NFL period. Takes a $100 uber ride just to get around this guy. Insane arm length gets his hands to you first. Powerful man when he gets going he can absolutely move people. If you have an athletic QB who can move around Jones basically can act as a wall setting picks for QBs.
Cons
Good athlete but at his size he still has some movement limitations. At his height he sometimes loses leverage battles. Would prefer he plays nastier with more violence. Probably limited to RT only
Bottom Line
Jones is a pretty safe prospect his massive size is a huge plus in the run game and in pass pro. As long as he stays in shape I expect a future right tackle for us.
Isaih McGuire, Mizzou, Edge, My Rank Edge 7
Pros
Impressive power for a 268 pounder. Power really shows up in the run game. He's a physical edge setting player that fills a major need. Shows some flashes of bend on tape. Really has a variety of pass rush moves he can go to kepp tackles off balance. Good athlete with some explosive traits and a motor that always runs hot.
Cons
Wasn't as productive as you would have liked him to be. A little incositent as a pass rusher and does not always showcase his full bag of moves. Not sure he'll be a player that can kick inside on 3rd down might be a little small for that. Does not have elite speed on the edge won't be pure edge bender in the NFL.
Bottom Line
McGuire is a plug and play run defender that fills a huge need for the Browns. I expect him to get plenty of snaps his rookie year. Could be a true steal if he refines his pass rush game. Felt he was far more polished than many of the players that went above him.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson- UCLA- QB- My Rank QB 11
Pros
Pure electricity . Very good athlete for the position can make plays with his arm and his legs. Plenty of arm strength to push the ball down the field. Really worked hard at UCLA to stick it out and improve.
Cons
Accuracy and ball placement are subpar. I question his decision making, turns the ball over more than I like.
Bottom Line
DTR is a pure developmental QB. Browns have taken a risk on a elite athlete for the position. Not a bad gamble I look forward to him lighting up the pre season.
Cameron Mitchell- Northwestern- CB- My Rank CB 20
Pros
Sure tackling corner. Not afraid to mix it up and get physical. Does a good job when he can get hands on receivers. Plenty of special teams experience. Great ball production in college got his hands on a lot of footballs.at NW. Competitive player is not afraid to bang in the run game
Cons
Average size and athleticism nothing special there. Batted a lot of passes down but is not a turnover creator. Only played outside corner at NW no experience in the slot. Isn't really the stickiest corner out there
Bottom Line
Mitchell is a player I think fans will love. Smart physical corner who is going to battle. I expect him to carve out a role on specials. Would not count him out to be a starter some day he's good at a lot of things.
Luke Wypler- Ohio State- C- My Rank Center 1
Pros
Best center I evaluated in this draft class. Moves really well in pass protection. Able to hit moving targets in the run game. Smart player was able to see him adapt on the fly to the blitz and weird schemes. Kept the penalties low this past season. Plays with good technique never gets caught off balance.
Cons
Smaller player probably not big enough to play guard. Not exactly a mauler either more of a technician. A better fit for zone schemes, probably not right for gap schemes.
Bottom Line
Wypler will be a starter for a ZBS team at some point in his career. He's got the perfect skillset for the ZBS i expect him to be a valuable piece for us at some point.
