The story of the 2023 Cleveland Browns season is going to be told through the lens of injuries. Sadly, while we were rooting for players to return for the NFL playoffs, the Browns continued to struggle with injuries going into Week 18’s meaningless game.
On Friday, the team ruled out seven players with a majority of them due to injury or recovery including safety Juan Thornhill and kicker Dustin Hopkins who could also miss the start of the playoffs.
LB Anthony Walker was one of the players that was hoping to return. Walker sat out the last three games after surgery but was placed on injured reserve on Friday. Cleveland brought back DE Sam Kamara to take Walker’s roster spot.
A team captain, Walker played in 12 games this season compiling 44 tackles, four passes defended, two fumble recoveries, two quarterback hits and one tackle for loss.
In his place, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah has taken over as the primary linebacker. Win Week 17, JOK played on 97% of the defensive snaps with Sione Takitaki (92%) and Tony Fields (14%) as the only other linebackers on the field for the defense.
Kamara has played two games for the Browns over the last two seasons without accruing a statistic.
How big of a deal do you think Walker’s inability to return will be for Cleveland?
