Browns playoff opponent decided by one Saturday, one Sunday Week 18 games

AFC South will be the opponent for Cleveland in the postseason but which one?

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans Thomas Shea-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Browns have nothing riding on their Week 18 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. With their AFC North opponent already eliminated from playoff contention, the Battle of Ohio has zero meaning for the NFL.

Week 18’s schedule still plays a huge role for Cleveland’s postseason.

The Browns playoff opponent in the Wild Card round is down to three AFC South options with two games this weekend deciding which will host Cleveland next weekend. The schedule makers set it up that the game that matters most happens after the other.

Saturday, the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts face off while the Jacksonville Jaguars take on the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

The winner of Texans versus Colts will either be the AFC South champion or lock up one of the last two Wild Card spots. The loser goes home for the offseason.

The Jaguars are in a much simpler position: Win in Week 18, win the AFC South. A loss would not eliminate Jacksonville from a Wild Card spot but they would at least need the Pittsburgh Steelers to lose to the Baltimore Ravens, who will be resting Lamar Jackson and other key veterans.

Injuries in Week 18 could play a huge role for all three potential Browns Wild Card opponents:
